Overview

Furolog ("the App") is designed with your privacy in mind. We collect minimal data and keep your information under your control. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and your choices.

Data We Collect

The App collects the following data locally on your device:

Session data: water temperature readings, heart rate, activity segments, timestamps, and duration recorded by your Apple Watch during bathing sessions.
Location data: facility names and coordinates you associate with sessions, used to display maps and identify prefectures. Location access is only used when you explicitly capture your location or search for nearby places.
Photos: session photos you add are stored locally on your device.
Profile information: display name, avatar, and body metrics (height, weight, date of birth, heart rate) you optionally provide.
Health data: heart rate data accessed through Apple HealthKit during active sessions. This data is never sent to any external server.

Private Locations

Locations marked as "Home" or "Elsewhere" are designated as private. Private locations are stored on your device and synced only through your personal iCloud account. They are never uploaded to any third-party server and are never shared with other users.

iCloud Sync

When iCloud Sync is enabled, your session data is synced across your devices using Apple's CloudKit. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is governed by Apple's privacy policy. You can disable iCloud Sync at any time in the App's settings.

Third-Party Services

Apple MapKit: used to display maps and search for nearby places. Map searches are processed by Apple and are subject to Apple's privacy policy.
Apple StoreKit: used to manage Furolog Pro subscriptions. Purchase transactions are handled by Apple.

The App does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to any third party. Session sharing features generate images locally on your device. No data is transmitted until you choose to share through the system share sheet.

Data Retention

All data is stored on your device and in your iCloud account. You can delete individual sessions at any time. Uninstalling the App removes all local data. iCloud data can be managed through your device's iCloud settings.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The App has no account system and collects no personally identifiable information beyond what you voluntarily enter.

Community Data

When Community Data is enabled (on by default), the App shares anonymized session information to help other users discover popular onsen and sento. The following data is shared:

Shared: facility name, prefecture, city/town, coarsened location (~100m precision), rating, session duration, bath and sauna types, water and sauna temperatures, weather conditions, and session date.
Never shared: your name, account identity, exact timestamps, notes, photos, health data, or any sessions marked as Home or Elsewhere.

Community data is stored in a public CloudKit database. You can disable Community Data at any time in Settings. Disabling it stops future uploads but does not remove previously shared data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above and will be available within the App.
